What is SCANA doing about greenhouse gases?
In 1997, SCANA’s subsidiary, SCE&G, entered into an agreement with the United States Department of Energy to reduce greenhouse gases by 2,000,000 tons from its projected emissions by 2000. SCE&G exceeded this goal by over 60,000 tons in the first year of the program. The reductions are the result of several efforts, including carbon sequestration projects, ash recycling, energy efficiency improvements and demand-side management programs.
