January 15, 2003, Columbia, SC, - South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G), principal subsidiary of SCANA Corporation (NYSE:SCG), announced today that it sold, in a negotiated offering, $200 million principal amount of 5.80 percent First Mortgage Bonds due January 15, 2033. The 30-year bonds were priced to SCE&G at 98.802 percent. The bonds are initially being offered to the public at 99.677 percent to yield 5.823 percent to maturity. Morgan Stanley, Wachovia Securities and BNY Capital Markets, Inc. acted as joint book-running managers for the transaction.
It is anticipated that the bonds will be issued on January 23, 2003. Closing of the transaction is subject to normal closing conditions.
SCE&G will use the net proceeds from the sale of the New Bonds for repayment of short-term debt and for general corporate purposes.
