Columbia, SC, December 20, 2005 - SCANA Corporation (NYSE: SCG) announced that Sharon Allred Decker, founder and principal of The Tapestry Group LLC of Rutherfordton, N.C., was elected to the SCANA Corporation Board of Directors on Tuesday, December 20, 2005.
The Tapestry Group LLC, offers retreats, seminars, consulting and other services for women.
Decker, who previously has served as president of Tanner Holdings and Doncaster apparel manufacturers, also brings extensive utility experience to her role as a board member. A former Duke Energy executive, Decker's 18 year tenure with the energy provider included working in areas from marketing and community relations to customer service, where she was named the company's first female vice president. She last served as corporate V.P. and executive director of the Duke Power Foundation when she left the company to found and serve as the president and CEO of Lynnwood Foundation in Charlotte, N.C. from 1997-1999. From there she was recruited to serve as president of Doncaster through 2003 and moved to become president of Tanner Holding before forming The Tapestry Group.
She continues to serve on the Board of the Lynnwood Foundation, as well as numerous other boards, including Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Family Dollar Stores Inc., Herschend Family Entertainment Group and Sona International.
Decker graduated cum laude with a B.S. degree in economic and consumer services in 1979 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
