Saluda, S.C., Oct. 25, 2004 - Students at Saluda Elementary have a lot to smile about when it comes to homework, and so do their parents and teachers. That's because the school is the setting for a new SCE&G Homework Center. To kick off the opening of its homework center, Saluda Elementary is hosting an open house for parents and students on Tuesday, Oct. 26 from 5 to 6 p.m. The school is located at 400 W. Butler Avenue in Saluda, S.C.

SCE&G Homework Centers provide a safe and structured study environment where students can complete class assignments and learn proper study skills. Each homework center operates with two certified teachers. One teacher is responsible for total management of the program. In addition, SCE&G covers the cost of snacks and student achievement incentives. At Saluda Elementary, the homework center will operate from 3 to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday; and will assist third and fourth grade students.

SCE&G operates 20 homework centers in South Carolina. The program began in 1992.
