CHARLESTON, S.C. (Dec. 11, 2006) – Two hundred and fifty families in the Lowcountry will enjoy the holiday season a little more thanks to the generosity of SCE&G employees and retirees. For the 24th year, the SCE&G family is giving bags of food and toys to low income families who were identified through employee referrals.
“I can’t tell you how much it means to see the gratitude these families show us when we go to their homes,” said Buddy Flake, project leader. “It’s humbling to see and makes us even more motivated to serve our community in any way that we can.”
SCE&G employees and retirees will assemble and deliver the holiday baskets on Tuesday, Dec. 12. Assembly begins at 9 a.m. at SCE&G’s Southern Operations Center, 3691 Leeds Avenue in North Charleston. The baskets will be delivered to homes beginning at 10 a.m.
Since 1983, more than 10,000 baskets have been delivered to families through this project.
