COLUMBIA, S.C. (Dec. 12, 2007) – Two hundred and seventy-five families in the Midlands will get a special gift this holiday season thanks to the generosity of SCE&G employees and retirees. For the 25th year, the SCE&G family is giving bags of food and toys to low income families identified through employee referrals.

“This is just one small way that we can give back to the community we work and live in,” said Wayne Ricard, project leader. “Not only does it make the families we touch feel cared for, it makes us feel good to know we’re responsible.”

SCE&G employees and retirees will assemble the holiday baskets on Thursday, Dec. 13 at 9 a.m. at the SCE&G operations facilities off 12th Street in Cayce. The baskets will be delivered to homes immediately afterwards.

Media planning to attend are asked to enter the complex through the gate off 12th Street Extension on Taylor Road; guards will then direct you to the appropriate location.

Since the program began, more than 10,000 baskets have been delivered to families through this project. This year, 675 are being delivered through company sponsored events in North and South Carolina.
