Columbia, SC (October 29, 2007) – South Carolina Electric & Gas Company and its employees today kicked off the company's 2007 Weatherization Blitz in collaboration with the Governor’s Office (Office of Economic Opportunity).

As part of this effort, nearly 100 employee volunteers from SCE&G are caulking, weather-stripping, replacing windows and doors and making other improvements to the homes of low-income families in Columbia and other areas of the state.

SCE&G is contributing $50,000 toward the weatherization of more than 30 homes altogether. Homes were selected based on criteria established by local community action agencies.

This is the 24th year SCE&G has participated in this partnership.
