Columbia, S.C. (Sept. 4, 2008) — South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G) recently added a new feature for customer convenience: the ability to report outages on electronic mobile devices such as a BlackBerry or Treo.
Customers can use a PDA or any internet-ready cell phone to report a power outage by visiting www.sceg.com/mobile and clicking on Storm Center. Customers can continue to check the status of their outage online from their mobile device until power is restored.
In addition to using electronic mobile devices, customers can also call 1-888-333-4465 or go to www.sceg.com/storm to report outages.
"SCE&G is at the forefront in the utility industry by offering this next level of convenience to our customers," said Stacy Shuler, emergency response coordinator for SCE&G. "We understand that our customers have a variety of preferences and capabilities when it comes to communication, so we're doing all we can to meet and exceed their expectations. Particularly during storms, we want to make it as easy and quick as possible for customers to receive the services they count on SCE&G to provide."
