SCANA Energy Homework Center At Harriet Tubman Elementary Welcomes The Harlem Globetrotters

Atlanta, GA, February 9, 2009...SCANA Energy will host a player from the World Famous Harlem Globetrotters at its homework center at Harriet Tubman Elementary School on Thursday, February 26.

The Globetrotter will team up with homework center students at the school on 2861 Lakeshore Drive in College Park from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. to present the Globetrotters’ S.P.I.N.™ (Some Playtime Is Necessary) program, designed to make fitness fun for children, while promoting and encouraging an active lifestyle.

The Harriet Tubman Elementary Homework Center operates from 3:15 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. The center serves 45 fourth-grade students. “We are excited that SCANA Energy is providing some extra after-school fun for our students,” says Gregory Middleton, principal of Harriet Tubman.

SCANA Energy Homework Centers provide a safe and structured study environment where students can complete their class assignments and learn proper study skills. Each homework center operates with two certified teachers who are responsible for the total management of the program. SCANA Energy provides funds for the teachers, an assistant, snacks, and student incentives. Additional Georgia Homework Centers include elementary schools in Augusta, Decatur, Mableton, Macon, Marietta, Norcross, Port Wentworth, Rome, and Savannah.
