COLUMBIA, S.C. (Nov. 28, 2012) – SCE&G recently presented a check to Richland County School District One as part of the company’s EnergyWise for Your Business Program.
The $87,684 incentive check was given to Richland One for its participation in SCE&G’s EnergyWise for Your Business Program. As part of the program, Richland One completed lighting upgrades at two elementary schools, Watkins-Nance and Carver-Lyon. The lighting upgrades enable Richland One to increase energy efficiency and reduce overall consumption by an estimated 264,118 kWh annually at the two schools.
Lavita Harriford, program manager for SCE&G’s EnergyWise for Your Business program, presented the check to the Richland One Board of School Commissioners and Superintendent Dr. Percy Mack during the district’s Nov. 27 school board meeting.
“Helping customers find ways to be energy wise is important to us, and we’re pleased that Richland One will benefit from increased energy savings as part of SCE&G’s EnergyWise for Your Business program,” said Harriford.
The incentive check was made possible as the result of SCE&G’s EnergyWise® programs that offer financial incentives and technical assistance to help reduce the cost of energy efficiency improvements. Since the program’s inception in October 2010, SCE&G has awarded rebates to hundreds of South Carolina electric commercial and industrial customers. There are several offerings with incentives, including Lighting, HVAC equipment, and Food Service and other High Efficiency Equipment. Custom Incentives are also available for other cost-effective projects with verifiable energy savings.
