Columbia, SC - Nov. 16, 2006 – An SCE&G electric lineman was electrocuted this morning in Bamberg, S.C. while working to restore power after a band of thunderstorms passed through the area.
Ken Butler, 41, a 19-year veteran with SCE&G, was electrocuted at about 6 a.m. while working from a hydraulic bucket to clear power lines.
Co-workers performed CPR before Butler was transported to nearby Bamberg Hospital, where he passed away.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Ken's family,” said SCE&G President Kevin Marsh. “This is a tragic day for our company and a devastating reminder of the dangers of our business and daily work, and the importance of safety in everything we do."
SCE&G is conducting an investigation to determine what caused the accident.
